Nowadays we are Living in era of Information Technology. But this technology could not have been usefull without computers. Every information and knowledge we have are because of computers. Computer we use in our day to day life is called normal computer. It is used mainly for making documents, presentation, for calculation, gaming, etc. But there is also a computer which is used to do big works. That computer work 100th times faster than normal computer. It gives us weather report, makes machine, gives information about natural resources, and many other tasks. What is supercomputer? 

Supercomputer is used where we need more power, more calculations, and Processing of high level data. Supercomputer don't do single work at a time like normal computer. It do many work at a single time. It is also called multi tasker. It is possible because supercomputer workon parallel processing system while normal computer work on serial processing system. Serial processing system do one task at a time. Supercomputer has many processor in his circuit which help it do millions of calculation at a time. A computer is called super on basis of number of calculation it does in shortest period of time. Supercomputer speed of calculation is term in FLOPS (floating point operation per second) while normal computer is termed in MIPS(million instructions per second). When we talk about operating system, in starting supercomputer work on UNIX operating system. But due to changing time and technology, supercomputer work nowadays on LINUX operating system. Also manufacturers change operating system as they need. Besides Linux many others operating system are used like CENToS, BULLX, and cray Linux are used. Mostly supercomputers are used for scientific works. As it is way better in all field than normal computer. Therefore it is so expensive to buy. 

Supercomputer price depends on calculations of how many FLOPS it does. If supercomputer is   fast then it's price will also be high. Supercomputer is also big in size, it's height will be from some feets to hundreds of feet. One supercomputer is made by combining many computer. 

Where is supercomputer used? 

Supercomputer is used in special field where we  need high calculations and Processing in a smallest matter of time. As generationaly we say then supercomputer is mainly used in scientific and engineering field. So that it handles big databases. In performance, supercomputer works thousands of time faster and accurately than normal computer.Supercomputers were started using for weather forecasting, gene synthesis, and climate research, simulation of nuclear science. 

Who made supercomputer? When it's made? 

When we see in history it say that a single person not made supercomputer but a group of does a effort time by time. But when it comes to single person, its biggest credit goes to Seymour Cray. Because he has the most effort in making supercomputer. Worlds first supercomputer is made by Cray in year of 1960.Whose name is CDC1604. Worlds two fastest supercomputer are from America. Which are Summit and Sierra, both work for IBM technology. Summit was named as worlds fastest supercomputer in June 2018.Before Summit, chinas Sunway Taihulight was renowned as fastest supercomputer. Which manufacturing cost is approximately 273 million dollar. In total worlds 10 super computer, 5 are form America, 2 Chinese, 1-1 from Switzerland, Japan and Germany. India is also not behind from any country. India has five good working supercomputers. Which are Pratyush Cray XC40, Sahastra Cray XC40, Aaditya IBM/Lenovo system, IIT delhi hypercomputer, ParamYuva2. India got it's first supercomputer in year 1991,which is named as Param8000(means first). Indias most fastest supercomputer is Pratyush Cray XC40. It's memory is 1.5 tera bytes. Indian supercomputer top s Indian supercomputer top speed is 42.56 TFLOPS per second.
