The iPhone 13 and 13 Mini has better battery life, better cameras and a new processor than last year's iPhone 12 and 12 Mini. Overall both the iPhone 13 and 13 Mini are excellent phones for most people, which is why we gave them the CNET Editors Choice Award. Our actual review, first published in September, follows.
The iPhone 13 and 13 Mini received many important enhancements including new cameras, a larger battery, more storage and a brighter screen. The iPhone 13 is an exciting addition to last year's family of the amazing iPhone 12. Some will be disappointed because it is not very different from previous models, but that is actually part of the charm. Familiarity has been one of the keys to Apple's success with the iPhone, and the iPhone 13 and 13 Mini are those loyal friends who seem to have not changed.
The iPhone 13 starts at $ 829 (£ 779, AU $ 1,349) and the 13 Mini is $ 729 (£ 679, AU $ 1,199). That's for the basic model, which comes with 128GB of storage. If you buy and activate your phone with a network operator, that price drops by $ 30, and that is before you can add great deals from network companies. If you are looking for a smaller version of iPhone 13, get the iPhone 13 Mini. If you need an iPhone 13 Pro with a large screen and battery, get the 13 Pro Max. I spent five days testing all four phones and decided to share my results in two updates. This one includes the iPhone 13 and 13 Mini; I wrote differently on the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max. The iPhone 13 retains a flat-sided design, coming in 5 colors New phones have the same square design as the iPhone 12 and 12 Mini. They come in five colors: blue, star bright, product red, midnight and pink. In some light, the soft pink color may be almost white. On the front of the iPhone 13 is a 6.1-inch display, and there is a 5.4-inch screen on the 13 Mini. Pro models have received upgrades and added high upgrade values to their screens, but the 13 and 13 Mini have received significant light increases. Another difference is that the note is small. I am still a notch and I still have a love affair with her for good. But I will take it as a 20% less. In addition, phones with Ceramic Shield shut off display, IP68 dust-resistant rating means they can survive immersion by up to 6 meters (approximately 20 feet) in up to 30 minutes. The models I tested did not have the problem of surviving an unexpected infection in the late afternoon storm. Technically both phones are very heavy, but I didn’t see that until I read the specs sheet. If 7 to 10 grams are added from a large battery, I accept extra weight. I only had five days with the phones, but both the iPhone 13 and 13 Mini had no problem ending the day with a single charge. I have 12 Mini and I know the truth at 3 p.m. reload, but I do not see that in 13 Mini. On a typical day of use, the iPhone 13 Mini performs all day and releases last year's iPhone 12.
Apart from the colors, there are two bright design variations. The new camera tube keeps two cameras in the background with a diagonal. It's funny how one change can identify people. While I was checking it out, a few people stopped and asked if this was a "new iPhone."
